Great sadness at the death of researcher Katja Rost

Sociologist Katja Rost died at the age of 50 from a malignant bone marrow disease. She recently also conducted research within the National Research Programme (NRP 77).
Katja Rost is regarded as one of the best-known social scientists in Switzerland. She taught and carried out research at the University of Zurich on labour market change and gender equality issues. Her clear positions and outspoken views made her a sought-after interview partner and an influential public voice.
Her long-standing research partner, Margit Osterloh, pays tribute to her in an NZZ obituary as "an incredibly creative woman, a strong and courageous researcher."
Katja Rost also contributed her expertise to the National Research Programme "Digital Transformation" (NRP 77). Together with her project team, she examined how Swiss universities and academic disciplines use digital transformation as a means of strategic positioning and in the competition for resources, reputation and students.
On behalf of the entire Steering Committee, the Programme Office expresses its deep regret and sympathy.
Legend: Taken at the NRP 77 Programme Meeting in summer 2024 – where all research teams presented their interim results to the Steering Committee.
