Four new videos provide an insight into the results of several years of research on the digital transformation in Switzerland.

How is the digital transformation changing Switzerland? This is the question that 46 research teams explored as part of the National Research Programme (NRP 77) ‘Digital Transformation’. The research projects studied specific aspects in three areas of society:

  • Education and learning

  • Digital economy and labour market

  • Ethics, trustworthiness and governance

To bring the complex transformation to life, three videos have been produced in which researchers present their projects in their own words. Abraham Bernstein also provides an overview of all the findings from NRP 77.

Digital transformation: the key findings

Abraham Bernstein, President of the Steering Group, sums up what five years of research in NRP 77 can tell us about Switzerland’s digital transformation and why it is a shared responsibility for the whole of society.

Democracy in the digital space

Can democracy also work in the digital sphere? Marlène Gerber and her team developed a ‘democracy factory’ and tested different options for digital participation.

Digital transformation in the labour market

The digital transformation is changing the labour market – but not for everyone’s benefit. A study led by Conny Wunsch shows that women invest less in digital skills, causing the gender digital divide to widen.

Schools going digital

In his project, Marc Audétat took a closer look at educational robots and examined how they land with pupils and teachers. The bottom line is that robots, here representing all educational technologies, are changing teaching practice and social connections in the education system.

These video profiles are representative of all 46 research projects carried out as part of NRP 77.

An international steering group analysed all the results and summed up the key findings in 12 insights. The insights serve as recommendations for the business community, society and policymakers on how the digital transformation can be optimised in Switzerland.
